🥳 Sugarlight Photography celebrates 15 years of family photography!

Who would've thought it all started when my husband brought home a DSLR camera and I stared at it like it was an alien spacecraft? 🤔 (Confession: I had zero interest in photography and reading manuals was definitely not my thing... iykyk 😅)

I moved to Singapore in 2006 with my two small children. Back in Sweden, I had always worked in hospitality and the service industry - I loved meeting people and being part of their lives. There's something special about connecting with others and creating positive experiences that always drew me in.

When my husband brought home that camera, I was initially lost - just another gadget in our home that seemed too complicated to bother with. But curiosity got the better of me. Desperate to at least figure out how to turn the thing on, I signed up for a beginners' course with SWEA Singapore. Plot twist: I got completely hooked! Little did I know that this would become a completely different career path that would still let me connect with people in meaningful ways.

The early days were... interesting. I photographed EVERYTHING. Like, everything-everything. Went through some pretty intense photography phases (we don't talk about those niches anymore 🤫). In April 2010, my youngest was born, and by that time I felt ready to take my photography to the next level. And just like that, Sugarlight was born - because apparently starting a business with a newborn seemed totally logical at the time!

From Curious Beginner to Professional Family Photographer

What started as a random hobby quickly turned into something much more. Over these fifteen years, I've had the chance to work with incredible clients and document countless meaningful moments through family photoshoots.

I've seen families evolve over the years - from couple photos to maternity sessions, newborns to teenagers. There's something special about being invited back again and again to capture these milestones and create beautiful family images that last a lifetime.

Still Going Strong

Photography wasn't part of my original plan, but now it's hard to imagine doing anything else. The excitement of a great family photo session (and as well as maternity and newborn, they all bring out the same feeling) and the satisfaction of delivering images that make people happy - that's what keeps me going.

15 years later, I'm still here, still learning, still occasionally failing (keeping it real!). But most importantly, I'm still absolutely in love with what I do. Meeting all you amazing people who choose me as your family photographer? That feeling never gets old.
